Review
The Clipper Race started in 1996 after Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, the first man to sail non-stop alone around the world, wanted everyone to experience ocean-racing. The sixth race, Clipper Race 07-08, started in Liverpool in September 2007. Singapore was one of the stops in Leg 04 of the Race - Fremantle (Australia), Singapore and Qingdao (China).
This part of the race that started in Fremantle, ended at Horsburgh Lighthouse - off the east coast of Singapore. On Saturday, 19 January 2008, the 10 competing yachts sailed into Marina at Keppel Bay from Batam to a welcome party and the official opening of the marina. It was spectacular to watch the yachts come into the harbour.
Although Keppel Island, where the marina is located, is a private island, it was open to the public the day the yachts arrived and berthed. We could also board the yachts and chat with the crew, learning first-hand of their experiences at high seas.

The yachts then left on 27 January 2008 for Qingdao, after 9 days of rest and re-fill in Singapore.

Tips
Check out the route into the harbour to find good alternative viewing spots. One possible spot is Labrador Park.
